About Great Games

Our first 'warehouse' in 2023 was a storage shed on the Gold Coast, which included a washing machine and assorted garage items, of course.

We (Sam) used to take up the entire hallway much to the joy of our storage unit neighbours!

The only access to a power outlet was down the hallway sitting on the floor to print out the packing lists and labels for shipping.

One of the funniest moments was asking the staff to help print out over 200 orders on their printer - they quickly stopped this service 😂 understandable.

We soon realized we had to get a bigger space.

The Grinch had struck.

In fact the entire Brisbane port had struck. (Striked?)

Our first restock is majorly delayed right before Christmas 2023, with hundreds of orders waiting due to the Australian port strikes.

At the time I was living in Brisbane and had to drive down to the Gold Coast to pack and send orders, so I'd be waiting all day on the phone only to be told it'd arrive the next day, then the next... then the next...

A very tired Sam takes matters into his own hands and drives a rental truck to pickup the load himself, and gets most of the orders out within minutes of cutoff!

We move into a slightly larger storage shed in Brisbane.

I'd walk down from my home office to pack orders in the sweltering oven aka storage shed.

There's a bit more room to stand but every 15 minutes Sam had to press the timer button to turn the lights back on.

Not ideal.

We zipped down to Melbourne for our first Toy Fair and met a whole heap of awesome retailers!

This marked the beginning of our relationship with our distributor VR Distribution and inspired us to get into more stores!

It also made me realize we (Sam) now needed some help with all this growth.

We move into our first actual warehouse in Brisbane!

Our first two hires join the team, Anna Cowler who looks after customers and sales wizard Brad Hargraves who looks after our retail partners.

Sam continues to release 4-5 Kickstarters per year and also adds our first collabs with artists.

We want Great Games to become the #1 board game publisher in Australia. Our exciting growth continues!

We're incredibly grateful for all of our amazing puzzlers and board game community who have enjoyed our products, and we're so excited to continue growing and bringing fun & games to everyone.

We love being a young company based in Australia - there aren't many other tabletop publishers here and we're stoked to be one of the fastest growing in the space!
